William Wikström is the national project manager at the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention (Brå) for the implementation of Group Violence Intervention (GVI) in Sweden. He holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Örebro.

Since 2019, William has been working in collaboration with the national agencies The Swedish Prison and Probation Authority and the National Police Authority implementing Group Violence Intervention in several cities in Sweden. Part of the work has been made possible thanks to funding from the EU’s Internal Security Fund (ISF) and support from the National Network for Safe Communities (NNSC) at John Jay College in New York. Since 2021 the Swedish government has funded their work as GVI has been disseminated to 6 cities in Sweden, with evaluations conducted at every implementation. GVI in Sweden is the most extensive work of GVI outside of the US.
