Every three years, the international and interdisciplinary Efus Security, Democracy & Cities conference brings together more than 800 participants from 150 cities and regions to discuss urban security and crime prevention priorities.
Aimed at all urban security stakeholders (local, regional, national and European elected officials, civil servants, magistrates, security professionals, social workers, researchers, representatives of the private sector and civil society, experts and representatives of European institutions and international organisations), Efus' international conference is a unique opportunity to discuss local responses to security challenges facing local authorities.
"As President of Efus, I am delighted that Brussels will be hosting the Security, Democracy & Cities conference from March 20 to 22, 2024, in partnership with safe.brussels."
Willy Demeyer
Mayor of Liège & President of Efus<br>
"This conference is a key event for safe.brussels, and we are proud to be organising it in close collaboration with our privileged partner, Efus. Moreover, the conference is taking place at a highly symbolic time for us: the sad eighth anniversary of the terrorist attacks in Brussels, as well as Belgium's presidency of the Council of the European Union. These events reinforce the importance of this conference and remind us of the need to work together to ensure security and democracy in our cities."
Sophie Lavaux
Governor of the Brussels Conurbation, and director general of safe.brussels
