Deputy Mayor, City of Mannheim (Germany)

Dr. Volker Proffen has been Deputy Mayor of Mannheim since October 2023. He is responsible for Finance, Investment Asset Management, IT, Public safety and Order.

With a doctorate in business administration, he started his career at Daimler AG and at a consulting firm. After heading the department of governmental affairs at Südzucker AG, he now represents the city he was born and raised in. In addition to that, he fulfils a longstanding voluntary commitment as Chairman of the Board of a local sports club with around 50 staff members.

He represents the city of Mannheim in its role as Vice-President of the European Forum for Urban Security (Efus) and the German Forum for Urban Security (DEFUS) as well as being Chair of the SiMA Association for Security in Mannheim.
