Pierre-Luc Gauthier

Commanding officer, Montreal Police Department (Canada)

Commandant Pierre-Luc Gauthier has over 20 years of varied experience with the Montreal Police Department. He worked for 14 years in the Plateau Mont-Royal borough, a lively area of the city with many social cohabitation issues and a very active nightlife. Her passion for bicycle patrol in public spaces with users and vulnerable populations has enabled her to develop an expertise in incivility prevention. This experience enabled him to help the City of Montreal create a nightlife policy for the city. Alongside his years on patrol, Commandant Gauthier has developed expertise in crowd control at demonstrations, festivals and major sporting events. For the past two years, he has been in charge of Poste de quartier 7 in the borough of Saint-Laurent, and is now commander of the Division de la prévention et de la sécurité urbaine. His goal is to continue his department's shift towards an inclusive police force that understands the issues facing the population, reinforces its sense of security and works in concert with the city's various partners.
