Marwan Mohammed

Sociologist, National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS)

Marwan Mohammed is a sociologist, researcher at the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and member of the Centre Maurice Halbwachs in Paris. His main research themes are social, urban and racial inequalities, as well as delinquency and criminal justice. His current research focuses on collective violence, drug trafficking and organised crime. He is the author of numerous articles and books on the subject of collective violence, particularly that committed by youth gangs. His latest work is entitled Y a embrouille ! Sociologie des rivalités entre quartiers, published by Stock. He has also long worked on urban revolts in working-class neighborhoods, and helped write and direct the documentary film La tentation de l'émeute, broadcast in 2010 by the Franco-German channel ARTE (Morgane Production).
