José Figueira

Commander of the Lisbon Municipal Police, City of Lisbon (Portugal)

Superintendent José Figueira, Commander of the Lisbon Municipal Police, is a Senior Officer of the Public Security Police (PSP), where he has undertaken various functions throughout his career over the last 30 years, such as Squadron Commander in the Metropolitan Command of Lisbon, Deputy in the Office of the General Commander, Commander of the Anti-Crime Brigades, District Commander of Leiria, Commander of the Detachment of Personal Security of the President of the Republic and Head of the Security Service of the Presidency of the Republic.

He graduated in Police Sciences with specialisation in Police Management and Strategy, Personal Security, Management of Tactical-Police Incidents, and Inactivation of Explosive Devices. In recent years José Figueira has been carrying out several missions on international cooperation, namely as Liaison Officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at the Embassy of Portugal in São Tomé and Príncipe, Coordinator of Police Units in Rwanda and Senegal within the scope of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Mission for the Stabilization of the Central African Republic and responsible in the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations in New York for management and evaluation of Police Units for deployment in different UN missions.
