Jean-Claude Maes holds a Master's degree in clinical psychology, an additional Master's degree in French literature, and a training and post-training diploma in systemic family therapy. He is a doctor in Information and Communication Sciences (ICS), a psychotherapist and supervisor (analysis of practices and/or institutional analysis) in private practice, a family therapy trainer in Toulouse (Université Jean Jaurès and Institut d'Anthropologie Clinique), founding president of SOS-Sectes (2000-2019) and PREFER asbl (since 2017). He is the author of six books on the abuses of control (sectarianism, narcissistic perversion, incest, etc.) and director of a dozen collective works on various themes (addictions, narrativity in psychotherapy, radicalism, the great founding narratives of the West, etc.).
