Dorien Deketele

Project Manager, International Organization for Migration (IOM)

Dorien Deketele is Project Manager at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Belgium.

She has been working for IOM since 2008 in different countries in Africa and Europe. She has a legal background and specialises in development and human rights.

As project manager, she has implemented the Community Policing Without Borders (CoP ) project in Belgium, together with different local police zones. The aim was to inspire the police to fight racism and discrimination through initiatives that bring police-citizens closer together in a context of superdiversity. She will share insights from this successful project during her session at the Security, Democracy and Cities conference.
