Daniel Gatica-Perez directs the Social Computing Group at Idiap Research Institute, and is a professor at the School of Engineering and the College of Humanities at EPFL, Switzerland. His research studies how people and technology interface in everyday life. His current work integrates human-centered methods, mobile and social technologies, machine learning, and social participation to support communities, cities, public health, and the environment. His research has been supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation, the European Commission, and Innosuisse. He also works with cities and local organisations on social innovation projects, including the H2020 ICARUS project.
