Alfredo Malaret Baldo

Urban Violence programme Manager, Peace in Our Cities

Alfredo Malaret Baldo is head of the Urban Violence programme at the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice at the University of San Diego. Alfredo is also one of the co-facilitators of the Peace in Our Cities network and a researcher at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR). Prior to joining UC San Diego, Alfredo was a researcher with UNIDIR's Conventional Weapons and Ammunition programme, where he coordinated research portfolios on the development and urbanization of violence. 

Prior to joining UNIDIR, Alfredo worked at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), the UN Regional Center for Peace, Disarmament and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNLIREC) and for retired US Ambassador Dennis Jett during his time at Pennsylvania State University. To date, Alfredo has been deployed more than 20 times in the field. He holds a Master's degree in Public Affairs from Brown University (USA) and in International Affairs from Pennsylvania State University (USA). He holds a BA in Political Science and Communications from Fairleigh Dickinson University (USA).
