Alexis Goosdeel

Director, European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA)

Alexis Goosdeel joined the EMCDDA in 1999 as Project Manager in the field of EU enlargement and international relations. Since 2005, he has headed the agency's Reitox and International Cooperation Unit.

Before joining the EMCDDA, Alexis Goosdeel worked at the Université catholique de Louvain and Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc in Brussels. He was one of the founding members of Modus Vivendi, a Belgian NGO tasked with developing harm reduction programmes, and has 14 years of clinical practice as a psychoanalyst and family therapist.

He holds a master's degree in clinical psychology from the Université Catholique de Louvain and a diploma in advanced management from the ICHEC Brussels Management School. He is fluent in six languages and was born in Brussels on November 7, 1959.
